Yes. As of August 23, 2026, Carrd's homepage still offers a free plan (Carrd calls it the Basic plan in its terms) that lets you "build up to three sites per account and use all of Carrd's core features" at no cost. It is not a time-limited trial; the separate 7-day Pro trial only covers Pro features.

What free does not include is everything Carrd lists as Pro-exclusive: custom domains, forms, widgets and embeds, removing the "Made with Carrd" branding, premium templates, site analytics, and the unlimited element count. A free site therefore lives on a carrd.co address, carries the Carrd badge, and has a cap on how many elements it can hold.

The free tier is also the fallback: Carrd's terms state that if an automatic renewal cannot be paid (no balance and no saved payment method), the account is "automatically downgraded to the free Basic plan" after a short grace period and the sites "lose access to any Pro features they may be using." Two structural reasons keep the cost down. First, Carrd started small and sells itself: its documentation says it "began life as a small side project by AJ" that has "since grown into something much bigger," and the whole purchase is self-serve (pick a plan, pay by card or PayPal). Second, it does not build or host the costly parts of a website business. Payments, email signups, bookings and stores come in as embeds and integrations from Stripe, PayPal, Gumroad, Typeform and email providers, so you pay those vendors, not Carrd, for those functions.

The practical consequence is that "cheap" and "limited" are the same decision. You get a fast, fully custom single page and, on Pro Standard, a custom domain for a flat $19 a year; you do not get a multi-page site, a native blog, a built-in store or per-link click analytics. If you need those, the low price stops being the relevant comparison.

The defining limit is one page per site. Carrd's documentation describes sections as a way to "simulate the effect of having multiple pages on a one-page site," which is the closest it gets to multi-page navigation; a true multi-page website needs separate Carrd sites or a different builder.

A free Carrd account allows three sites and a capped number of elements per site (Carrd lists "unlimited number of elements" as a Pro feature); Pro Standard and Pro Plus raise the site count to 10 and 25 (Pro Lite stays at 3, and higher-count variants go beyond that), and every Pro plan allows uploads of "images/GIFs up to 16MB and videos up to 64MB."

Feature limits depend on the tier: custom domains, forms, widgets, embeds and analytics start at Pro Standard ($19/year), while advanced forms, advanced settings, redirects, password protection and downloading your site's source require Pro Plus ($49/year). Nothing on any tier adds a native store, blog, membership system or per-link click analytics; those remain third-party embeds.

Pick Carrd for a single custom-designed page on a yearly budget, and Wix for a multi-page website with built-in commerce, blogging and bookings. They are different categories of tool: Carrd builds one page per site, while Wix's plans page sells a full-site platform and lists "Custom domain, Reliable web hosting, AI creation tools, 24/7 customer care" and a "14-day money-back guarantee" under "All plans include."

Pricing is structured differently, so compare carefully. Wix quotes per-month prices for yearly subscriptions and notes that "prices and currency vary by location," so we are not printing a Wix figure here; check wix.com/plans for your region. Carrd quotes a flat yearly price, and a custom domain costs $19/year on Pro Standard as of August 23, 2026.

Both have free plans, and on both a custom domain is a paid feature: Wix's plans FAQ says that "with a Premium plan you can connect your own domain," and Carrd starts it at Pro Standard. The decision rule: if you can describe your whole site as one scrolling page (a bio page, a portfolio, a waitlist, a product teaser), Carrd will be cheaper; if you are already planning a second page, a store or a blog, start with Wix or another multi-page builder rather than outgrowing Carrd.

Carrd has no native per-link click counter; on Pro Standard ($19/year) you connect Google Analytics, Plausible or Matomo yourself, and that is also the tier you need for a custom domain and an email signup form.
