Later albums such as Never for Ever and Hounds of Love expanded her use of recording technology and arrangement. The Rock Hall highlights the relationship between those musical choices and her work with dance, film and performance.

Her own album commentary gives listeners an artist’s perspective on the early material. It can be read alongside the official release information, which separates release dates, credits and track lists from retrospective interpretation.

The live album Before the Dawn follows the structure of Bush's stage production rather than a conventional greatest-hits concert. Its three-CD format centres on The Ninth Wave and A Sky of Honey, with King of the Mountain connecting the opening set to The Ninth Wave.

Bush produced the album, and the official announcement states that the record was not subsequently re-recorded or overdubbed. The live release therefore has a different purpose from a studio remaster: it preserves the musical performance of a staged work with connected song suites.

Bush's official Hounds of Love page distinguishes several physical reissues, including coloured vinyl and the Baskerville Edition. It specifies that these use the 2018 remastered audio. Different packaging does not, by itself, mean a new performance or a new mix.

That detail is useful when comparing collectible editions with the original album or Before the Dawn. One concerns a later physical presentation of studio recordings; the other revisits the music within a live, theatrical programme.
